The Institute of Public Health & Hygiene (IPH&H) was founded in July 1976 by Dr. Shyam Sunder Joshi. His vision was to create an inclusive institution that welcomed students from all backgrounds and focused on community service. Even before such services were commonly available, the institute was involved in initiatives like rural healthcare, free education, immunization programs, and support for people with disabilities.

Starting small, IPH&H has grown into one of the oldest and most respected paramedical and allied health institutes in India, with a legacy of 50 years. The institute trains young people, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, in healthcare skills to prepare them for rewarding careers in the industry.
